Queens Park is a small residential suburb in the Eastern Suburbs, located six kilometres east of Sydney's Central Business District. The suburb's southern half comprises Queens Park, a pocket of Centennial Park and Moriah College, while the northern half is made up of residential streets that sit behind Bondi Junction. The suburb and the main park within it share the same name.
Initially a part of Bondi Junction, Queens Park was officially recognised as a suburb in 1992 following a local referendum. Some locals and long-time residents still refer to the area as Bondi Junction. Many of the homes on Queens Park's eastern side date from the Victorian era, while those on the northern and southern sides are largely Federation style. Moriah College now occupies the site of the former Eastern Suburbs Hospital.
Queens Park (the park) is popular for sports practice, dog walking, exercise and picnics. Centennial Park may be entered via the York Road Gates or Musgrave Avenue Gates, both of which are situated in Queens Park (the suburb). Charing Cross, on the eastern side, is partly located within Queens Park and the Charing Cross Hotel is well loved by locals and visitors alike.
